With the HUD I really don’t understand why they designed it with an outer, more transparent border. It looks pretty strange.

thanks, I’m temporarily running precise with gnome-shell, waiting for linux mint maya, I tried both of them these days and to tell the truth it was not the OSs I didn’t like, it was the DE, they both are good OSs, but lxde seems kind of unfinished to me… anyways thanks again for the advice :)

Excellent review Mr.Meat. Can that icon bar on the left be moved to the bottom of the screen? I might have to give this a go.

No much changes since Oneiric, in my opinion. But cool review.

O.K. thanks, and what about you? Are you gonna use unity or stick with gnome-shell?

Mint 13 main might be out in about 4 to 6 weeks and then after that they make the variants lxde, xfce, etc,etc.. so you still got some time a head of you,I would just with Lubuntu for now and see if you like it or not. there is always the Gnome classic too. but its just the fallback mode with compiz turned on.

I just got this installed, I really like all the improvements they made, but I still can’t use unity, I wanna try an lxde ubuntu-based distro, what would you recommend lubuntu or linux mint lxde?

I’ve really tried to like Unity but I think it sucks.

Great review but I think Unity is a lame DE for a PC, probably works great on a touch-screen phone or net-book.

good thing that 12.04 comes with Gnome 3.4.1 and shell runs very very well and the fall back mode now runs compiz..

Thanks man for the video, great job :-) I much prefer gnome 3 over unity.
