But why shout they use a Mac skin in a LinuxFoundationVideo ?

Guys. Google image Safari Browser and take a look at the pictures. That browser is NOT safari, in fact it’s Firefox (look at the order of everything and compare). As for the top buttons, I remember a Gnome 2.X theme that looked very similar. Wouldn’t surprise me if that is the same theme.

Whoever got paid to do this should be fired and sued.

They use OSX

As a Linux user, I am quite amused to see delusional comments about OS X theming. As if the Linux Foundation paid an agency lots of money to take a Linux distro and make it look like OS X in order to make a video about Linux.

Here’s what really happened:
Linus: we want a really cool video showing how great a year it’s been for Linux and furthermore it has to be on Xubuntu.
Agency: that’ll be 6 billion dollars. We’ll need to go out of house for an OpenShot pro.
Linus: a Mac will also be fine.

Ahaha, fail indeed.

Or perhaps a skin for Firefox? ;) I believe it is.

Silly though, whoever made that video should NOT have used that skin.

Imagine it’s a Mac user watching news about the success of Linux.

No other Kernel can say the same really. :) A portion that makes a Great OS together with whatever tools and desktop one uses.

Great video representing all that is good with Linux; the fact that there is a static image of Firefox on OSX in the background does not matter.

Mac Theme?

by Alex F. on December 16, 2012 at 4:45 am. Reply #

you guys think it’s on a mac because of some window decorations or buttons? you can make your themes look like any system there ever has been or create your own on Linux.

Let’s just tell ourselves it was Luninux . . .

While unlikely, it could be just a skin. A lot of people like the Mac look and feel, but prefer Linux, so they skin their Linux machines to look like Mac.

How you dare to show this video with that gtk theme.

by Jesus Bejarano on December 16, 2012 at 8:40 am. Reply #

Let’s just all hope it’s just a Mac theme on Linux.

So, this is a video about an Epic year for the Open Source community… but the video is apparently made on one of the most spies and closed systems ever.

Cool.
